KidsRStrong2 is a public charity that supports children with life-threatening illnesses in the areas of special programs, scholarships and research. The efforts of the organization are sustained through the support of many through monetary contributions, sponsorships, grants and volunteerism. Our Board of Directors are committed to ensuring that the mission and goals of the organization are met. These individuals dedicate a tremendous amount of time to serve children with life-threatening illnesses, as well as their families.
2018 Board Members are as follows:
President & Founder: Tomika Gamble – Founder of KRS2, which was started in honor of her now 10-year-old son, Isaiah Gamble. Isaiah was diagnosed with a rare form of lung cancer, Pleuropulmonary Blastoma (PPB), Type 3, at the young age of 3 in 2010. The organization not only supports patients and families in need, but is also an example to Isaiah and other children of the importance of giving back and making a difference in the community and the country as a whole.
Vice President: Andrew Gamble – Andrew is the father of Isaiah Gamble, who the organization was founded in honor of, and is committed to ensuring that his son’s fight against cancer was not, and will continue to not be in vain, through the efforts of KRS2 and supporting children and youth.
Secretary: Jai Collier – Local lawyer and realtor who is invested in the organization due to her passion for giving back, and her compassion for families dealing with life-threatening illnesses. Mrs. Collier has three children of her own and it pains her that any child should have to go through a fight for their life.
Treasurer: Dana Green – Mrs. Green is a local educator and entertainer that has a passion for helping children thrive. She is an encourager and is a wonderful addition to the team, due to her love of children, and desire to comfort and assist in any way needed. Mrs. Green is known to visit patients in the hospital and provide them with therapeutic musical sounds through her God-given talent of singing.
Advisory Board Members:
The primary purpose of the Advisory Board is to simply provide advice and general feedback, as requested from the Board of Directors, while supporting the goals and mission of the organization. The Advisory Board simply advises, without any authority or legal responsibilities.
Rajkumar Venkatramani, M.D., M.S., FAAP (Baylor College of Medicine/Texas Children’s Hospital Physician) Dr. Venkatramani is the organization’s physician of choice, due to his passion and focus on finding cures for rare tumors. His knowledge and guidance is a tremendous resource for KRS2, in that he educates our leaders on research opportunities that meet the mission and goals of the organization.
Courtney Taylor – Ms. Taylor is a Vice President of Community Development with Green Bank, who has an expertise in not only community relations, but is also well versed in the grant submission process. She is essential in assisting with the sharing of various grant opportunities that may be available, and helping to spread awareness of KRS2 and the children and families that we serve.
Jennifer Sowell - Ms. Sowell is a former Texas Children's Hospital employee that has a strong knowledge base of the medical field, and the needs of patients and families. Her first-hand experience with patients is essential as we focus on the needs of every child served.
