Pancreatic cancer fighter, along with KRS2, to host carnival for pediatric cancer patients during Childhood Cancer Awareness Month
August 23, 2017
Just in time for Childhood Cancer Awareness Month, KidsRStrong2 (KRS2), in partnership with Charles Dorrier, founder of The Wee Warriors Project, will host a special private carnival for pediatric cancer patients, admitted to MD Anderson Children’s Cancer Hospital. The event will take place on Thursday, September 14.
The concept for the carnival came about when Dorrier, an adult cancer patient, reached out to KRS2 in an effort to give back to children fighting for their lives, while he was fighting for his own.
Charles, who was diagnosed with stage 4 pancreatic cancer in March 2017 on a whim, looks at the diagnosis as a blessing.
“God has blessed me with a new direction in life… to provide lasting memories for children, because although life is short, memories last forever,” said Dorrier.
This is the first big event for the Wee Warriors organization, who will then take their efforts to Costa Rica, to provide vacation opportunities for children fighting cancer.
“We’re thankful and excited to partner with Charles, as we love celebrating the lives of the children that we serve. This is just one more opportunity for us to show them a good time, during what may be the most difficult time in their lives,” said TomikaGamble, founder of KidsRStrong2. “It’s also a great opportunity for us to support another organization that will be doing great things for children and families in need.”
KidsRStrong2 is a local 501c3 public charity that supports children with life-threatening illnesses, in the areas of special support programs, scholarships and research. The organization is well known for hosting celebration of life styled events at the hospitals, and at off-site locations. The most recent event held at MD Anderson was an Egg Hunt Extravaganza, done in partnership with Chloe Cook Events. To learn more about the organization visit www.krs2.org.
